TGA were needing to bounce back from a \012poor performance and defeat the previous week to get points on the board and keep in touch with the top 2 teams. It always seems to be insanely hot in Bedok but we had a good turn out and plenty of water on the sidelines. \012\012The first 5 minutes were very keenly \012contested but the ball was moving around and every player managed to get an early touch on the ball. We then began to dominate. The middle of the park generalled by Lairdy and Ben Morley, and width given by Benoit at RM Yohann on the left. \012\012Yohann (superbly supported by Chay) had a new steel to his game and was involved in everything good. The quality of crosses coming in from open play and corners was causing the Ace’s untold problems. Their keeper was very busy and did well under pressure though we hit the bar a couple of times and it was just reward when Tom \012Hutton bagged his first league goal for TGA, the ball cannoning off his gut to give us the lead after 15mins. \012\012Benoit showed that he has another gear of pace as he virtually flew down the wing to win the ball and a corner. Rumour has it that he was hallucinating from Absinthe the night before and thought he saw a bottle of shooters by the corner flag. \012\012Sunil was lively as ever and the Ace’s \012keeper pulled of a fine save to stop his neat turn and low shot. That save was good, but as the Ace’s broke into the TGA half and homed in on goal, their No7’s top-corner-bound shot was kept out by a breathtaking Hughes save; all the more impressive as it was his first call to action. One for the cameras apparently !!\012\012Something very strange was going on \012though. It appeared to all present that we might actually have a decent, fair and non-visually impaired ref for a change. Hats off to the official who let the game flow and allowed TGA to get their shooting boots on.First Ben Weaver had a drive blocked and it \012was a miracle the guys head stayed on his shoulders. Then Ben Morley fired off an Exocet that nearly knocked the goal flat. How we came in at the break only 1-0 up nobody will ever know and it was necessary we get a quick one from the restart to seal the points. \012\012We started confidently. Ben Weaver, \012footballs own hand-grenade was mixing \012great football with threatening to pull his own pin and implode. He was developing a loving relationship with their No7, and I’m pretty sure Ben shed a tear as his new friend was dismissed for his second bookable offence. With the extra man, and working the ball fluidly down both flanks the Ace’s were really struggling to contain TGA.\012Yohann’s deep ball to David saw the \012debutante Irish striker cut the ball back to Frank who crushed his shot into the net to wild applause. \012\012Sickboy was reminiscent of Keane in the \012middle of the park, and shocked everyone by not chucking his guts up. It was later revealed that he had already played and vommed in a game earlier in the day. Ben Morley really stood out too and it was a very close call between the CM partners for Man-\012of-the-match which ultimately went to the Scotsman. David opened his TGA account minutes later with a crafty turn and finish with the outside of the boot, before Notani wrapped up the points getting on the end of a 50 yard Morley effort. \012\012Lots of chances, lots of goals and a clean sheet – great effort lads !!! \012\012
