TGA 3-1 ESPZEN Rovers 11

The fat ones have done it again.\012\012We came into this game missing our Captain and central defender Big Dom, and our manager S.McChicken Nuggets, among others. We vowed to do these boys proud in their absence.\012\012Gemuks like a damp pitch, so the surface at Chinese Rec Club was perfect. We started the game with the return of a few lads who have not played for a while – hungry to \012secure their place in the now ‘celebrity’ squad.\012\012Keir Creighton opened up the scoring with his ever-present power and pace and the TGA went 1-0 up. Shortly after, our opponents got one back before half time with an impressive strike, leaving our defence and keeper scratching their heads.\012\012A few changes at half time seemed to do the trick and we came onto the field charged up and ready for some action. Another superb goal from Keir put us 2-1 up on the 49th minute.\012\012We suffered a few casualties this game \012(luckily nothing serious) and a disgusting challenge on our double goal scorer Keir nearly erupted into a brawl. But one quick stare from the moustached man in the yellow soon shut us up.\012\012The second half was pretty eventful, and ESPZEN Rovers II came close to netting a couple of times. We had learnt to respect the ref by this time, as he threatened to book our players for drinking water and not calling him Sir when addressing him.\012\012Sean Wilkins slotted his 9th goal of the season to ensure a win and signal the end of a hard-fought game.\012\012Special mention for Steve Smith who put on a fantastic performance, winning every header and using his vocal cords to shatter the on-coming strikers. Tetsu, Sunil, Boland and Kefford were solid as usual and well done Justin for a top class performance.\012\012Thanks to ESPZEN Rovers II for a physical game, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We wish the ref all the best in his career – just please don’t hurt me!!\012
