Well it was hardly TGA’s most fluid football ever but it was enough to record our 10th straight league win and guaranteed promotion to Division 4!!!

Special mention must also go to Helo FC who gave a great account of themselves and were a very sporting team.

Despite an opening 10 minutes where we had most of the ball we looked uncharacteristically shaky at the back and got caught badly out of position. Helo duly took this gilt edged opportunity and scored an absolute blinder to put themselves one up.

Yohann had a couple of chances to put us back in the game but seemed to try and put too much power in his shots which saw them safely over the cross bar. As usual all eyes turned to Ben ‘I can’t stop scoring’ Morley and he duly obliged with his 900th career headed goal to level the score and settle the sideline’s nerves.

Sutton, Sunil and Weaver were carving out very neat triangles on the left of the park, but it was a Notani solo effort which put TGA back in the lead as we approached half time. A long ball up to the little master was controlled beautifully on the chest with his back to goal. A lightning swivel to his left lost his marker and he drove to the edge of the box, hitting a lovely half volley into the top right of the net.

2-1 was never going to be comfortable as Helo continued to make a game of it, but were struggling to find the confidence we’ve shown in recent games. McCoo and Hardstuff came on and gave us fresh legs, both players going close within minutes of getting on the pitch, but the elusive third goal evaded us.

Bored of scoring headers, Big Ben put in one his scrappier goals after a little ping pong 2 yards out on the far post, but they all count, and 3-1 sealed the points for TGA.

Well done again boys – it’s been a truly incredible season so far, and let’s keep re-writing our record books as we close out the final four games.
