We couldn’t ask for more as TGA played some lovely football on a pretty appalling pitch. Under about 2 inches of water in places it was important to make sure of our passes which we did all day. There was also the odd moment of comedy (Ben’s spectacular dive into the muddy puddle that was supposed to be the penalty spot stands out) and some old school sliding tackles.

Boland would have loved it.

Despite the tricky conditions underfoot Yohann was carving out some great chances as he worked the Barcap back line. It was great to see him show strength in the box as he neatly turned in a bouncing ball with 10 mins played. Ably supported by a lively midfield, Yohann added another to his tally on the stroke of half time to round off a positive 40 mins for TGA.

Sunil’s half time vomit wasn’t enough to be keeping him quiet as he extolled the virtues of his own attacking prowess. “We don’t score when me and Lev are not on the pitch” – Man of the Match Matty Sutton disagreed. In part of a great on-going battle with Barcap’s No 10, he cut inside and danced along the 18 yard box shadowed by his challenger. He caught a bit of luck as the ball stuck in the soggy pitch allowing him to lose his man with a neat turn, but there was nothing lucky about the finish, as he smashed the ball into the top corner to make it 3-0. A belter that one.

It’s testament to the season he is having in spite of having one of his quieter games goal machine Morley added his standard brace and hit the bar. One came off his thigh and the other a header to kill off the game.

An excellent team performance with personal displays from new man Darren and Jacko at the back. Hugsy and Weaver also enjoyed fine games as we look forward to the final 2 games of the season.
