Crunch Time For TGA Ladies
Thu, 2 October
Tuesday October 7th is an important date in the history of the ESPZEN ladies futsal league. It marks the final games of the leagues first season and the appointment of the leagues first winner.
And what a day it is promising to be, with all but the last position in the league still at stake. TGA B take on Pirettes A in a clash for third place, with a the TGA girls needing not only to win, but to win by a margin of 3 goals or better to secure third place in the league. This game will kick off on East Coast Pitch 1 at 9pm.
The battle for 3rd place is preceded at 8pm on Pitch 1 by what is a cup final finish to the first installment of this league. By beating TGA B last week, TGA A have ensured that they have kept up the pace with Pirettes B, and now sit 2 points behind with only their arch rivals left to play.
This is a winner takes all game. Who ever wins this one will be crowned the ESPZEN Women’s Midweek Futsal Leagues first ever champions. With Pirettes B coming out 7 – 2 winners the last time these two met, and having only lost 1 game all season, they are seen as the bookies favorites. But, TGA A are in a fine vein of form having won their last 4 games in a row.
They also have the leagues leading goal scorer, Sophie Fletcher, who is sure to cause havoc in the Pirettes B’s penalty box. With 30 goals to her name this season, she is sure to bring some inspiration to the side. On the opposition, the mighty Jen Allen will be trying to see her Pirettes take the title, and sitting in second place on the leagues top goal scorers list with 22, she again will be one to watch as these two teams fight it out for the title.
TGA men’s players and supporters are encouraged to come down and cheer the girls on. What an evening of football this looks to be. Good luck to both TGA teams, we hope all of this seasons hard work pays off.
